On September 5, at Saint-Étienne-du-Bois in the Vendée region, Eric LAMARQUE, Director of the Sorbonne Business School, accompanied by our teacher-researchers Nathalie LALLEMAND-STEMPAK, Deputy Director in charge of social issues, and Philippe EYNAUD, CSR project manager, visited a forest planting project financed by the establishment. Committed as of 2020, the Sorbonne Business School is the first university to have implemented carbon offset projects certified Low-carbon label by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition and Territorial Cohesion.
As part of its CSR approach, the Sorbonne Business School has provided nearly 60% of the funding for this project designed with the National Forest Property Center to develop biodiversity and mitigate the consequences of climate change. These tree plantations are located on former farmland and complement a woodland massif.
Our ambition? Capture a total of almost 2,342 tonnes of CO2 and thus offset our carbon footprint to help preserve the planet. The project offers significant co-benefits in terms of biodiversity, preservation of water reserves, and recourse to local employment.

This LBC-certified afforestation project in Vendée in December 2021 joins the 3 projects in Gironde awarded the label in 2020: all are listed on the Ministry's register as projects financed by the Sorbonne Business School
Afforestation is the planting of a forest on land that was not forested within the previous ten years.
